Assignment 4 Continued . . .

Hello All,

Watch this video before (or after, if need be) you read Kracauer's analysis . . .

The photographs are part of a project called "Back to the Future" by the Argentinian photographer Irina Werning. Not to get all sentimental on you, but this is a video that makes me both smile and cry.

  1. OMG! This is very interesting. I'd actually like to have one of my favorite pictures shown like those in this video to see the differences from the past and the future.

  2. It's an interesting concept. Werning finds these old photographs and then recreates the shot (using the same background, clothing, lighting, and effects) of the same person. She has to spend time deconstructing the original photograph before she can even begin to take the "new" one. I put "new" in quotes because it, too, will soon be dated as the person/subject ages . . . This is something we could all try; all we need is that old photograph of ourselves . . .

  3. Is that so!! I might even try it myself after summer school is over. I actually like editing pictures and changing them around to make the image look more "lively".

  4. I love these types of pictures! I think it is funny when the people look almost identical, even though it may have been almost 20 years since the original photo was taken!
